How to Import Seed Phrase/Private Key into Safnect Wallet

This article will guide you through the steps to import your assets from another wallet into Safnect.

In your existing wallet, find and securely note down your 12 to 24-word seed phrase or single private key.

Import existing wallet

1. Open the Safnect Wallet and click on Recover an existing wallet.

2. Safnect supports multiple recovery methods:

  • Seed phrase (12 to 24 words)
  • Private key
  • Google Drive (for Safnect wallets previously backed up)

Import Seed Phase

Please enter or paste your full seed phrase starting with the first input box. Make sure to enter each word in the correct order for successful wallet recovery.

Note:

  • When importing your seed phrase or private key, ensure no one else is present to protect your sensitive information.
  • The seed phrase or full private key you import cannot be viewed later within the Safnect wallet and will not be stored by Safnect. Please keep your backup safe and don't delete it, as it will be required for future recovery.

Set Your Wallet Password

Create a wallet password that will be required every time you authorize a transaction. If you forget your password, you can recover your wallet by importing it again and setting a new password.

View Your Assets

Once your wallet is recovered, you can check your assets on the home screen.

Note:

  • Safnect currently supports Taproot addresses and displays the following assets: BTC, Fractal Bitcoin, CAT, and ETH. If your assets do not appear after importing, ensure they are held in Taproot addresses, or check if the specific asset is supported by Safnect.
  • If the assets take a long time to load, please check that your network connection is stable, and use the refresh button in the top right corner to update the latest asset balances.
  • Safnect Wallet shows the confirmed balance of your CAT tokens, even if they are sent from other platforms. While the transaction history for these transfers may not be visible within the wallet, you can check detailed records using a blockchain explorer.
